The U.N.'s top climate negotiator, Yvo de Boer, has announced his resignation will be effective July 1. "It was a difficult decision to make, but I believe the time is ripe for me to take on a new challenge," said de Boer, who will advise a consulting group on climate and sustainability issues. He did not link his resignation to the U.N.'s failure to produce a binding international treaty on climate change.
