The U.S. is looking east for inspiration when it comes to high-speed rail. While the U.S. recently anted up an initial $8 billion to fund high-speed rail projects nationwide, China invested $88 billion last year to build a 1,758-mile network of ultra-fast passenger rail. China lauds its network as a greener, more efficient and more comfortable mode of transportation.
