Broward County, Fla., will spend $2 billion to expand its Port Everglades seaport in anticipation of hikes in cargo and passenger traffic over the next two decades. Capital projects worth $338 million are slated through 2014. They include the expansion of cruise terminals, construction of a bridge and bringing rail closer to the port. The rail project alone is expected to create 1,000 construction jobs.
