The Senate was unable to pass a bill that would have prevented a 21% reduction in Medicare payments effective today because of a filibuster threat from Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., is working out the issues with Bunning. As a result, the CMS has asked contractors to hold Medicare claims for the first 10 working days of March.
