American Chemistry Council research indicates recycling of nonbottle rigid plastics increased by 10.8% in 2008. However, the 360.8 million pounds of recycled material fell below the goal of 400 million pounds that recyclers say is warranted. "We are pleased to see a significant increase as we track [the] recycling progress of nonbottle rigid plastics," said Steve Russell, vice president of plastics for the organization.
