Facing SPECT imaging reimbursement reductions of as much as 36% as a result of the 2010 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, ASNC and the American College of Cardiology are urging practitioners to join them in contacting Congress members in an effort to determine a better way to reimburse doctors for imaging. "If you add up the cuts to SPECT and other cardiac imaging, such as echo, coupled with an unreasonable sustainable growth formula, depending on how one calculates it, the reduction in reimbursement could be up to 50 percent," ASNC President Dr. Mylan Cohen said.
