Advocates of the credit union industry are hoping to attach a proposed increase in the amount they can lend to businesses to a bill on small-business lending that is expected to be introduced this week. The measure would allow credit unions to increase the cap on business loans to 25% from 12.25%. Critics, primarily large banks that compete with credit unions, said the proposal would give credit unions an unfair advantage in the marketplace.
