Top officials of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers vowed to conduct an investigation on the lack of information to justify that the levees in Illinois' suburban St. Louis region do not meet federal standards. This came in response to lawmakers' request for the levee data as the move to de-certify the levees could result in hefty flood insurance costs and adversely affect homeowners and businesses in the American Bottoms floodplain.
