A snake hunter in Florida who was one of a group of trappers authorized by the state to cull Burmese pythons in the Everglades reportedly violated the state's hunting rules by helping decapitate a python. According to this article, which cites AVMA's euthanasia standards, decapitation is not enough for snakes and other reptiles as the method may not lead to instantaneous death.
