Local supporters of Frontier Airlines rallied in Denver on Thursday, urging parent company Republic Airways to preserve Frontier's identity, including the iconic animal mascots painted on the tails of its jets. Republic plans next month to announce a single name for the two airlines it acquired last year -- Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines is the other -- and Denver hopes to make the case that its hometown airline enjoys a greater customer loyalty. "People have this bond with Frontier and the Frontier animals, and if you do away with that and we become generic, then we'll be just like any other airline," says Janet Elliott, an airline employee who organized Thursday's rally.
