After it was wiped out in the U.S. in 1982, Equine Piroplasmosis, a blood infection affecting horses, apparently is reemerging in the country with 15 states so far reporting a detection of the disease. Efforts are under way to curb the spread of the disease, including formulating a vaccine. Additional information about the disease can be found at the AVMA Web site.
