The Indian government wants to see domestically produced liquefied petroleum gas available in three-quarters of the country within the next five years, with half of the country's population using LPG fuel. Ministers are planning to open a refinery to boost domestic LPG production, and they plan to provide subsidies to fuel retailers to ensure the fuel is available at the same price in rural areas as it is in urban areas.
