The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT on Friday launched its "popHealth" prototype solution that allows providers to automatically pull data from their electronic health records and generate summary quality reports. Through the open source software, "transmission of summary quality data is simpler, less data intensive and more scalable and represents an alternative to traditional methods of data transmission," said Vish Sankaran, director of ONC's Federal Health Architecture division, which created the solution.
