Most natural gas companies have not committed to Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell's invitation to address his planned tax on Marcellus Shale drilling. The governor seeks to charge companies 5% of the value of gas at the wellhead and 4.7 cents per 1,000 cubic feet of gas extracted. The state could earn $160.7 million in the first year and $1.8 billion over five years under the proposal.
