A study aiming to determine the best imaging method for identifying neuroendocrine tumor metastases to the heart among patients with progressive tumors found that results of MRI and Ga-68 DOTA somatostatin-receptor PET/CT scans were consistent in approximately 91% of cases. The sensitivity of SMS-R PET/CT was 92%, higher than echocardiography's 57%, CT's 32% and FDG PET/CT's 12%, the study found.
