Microsoft reportedly will offer a pair of phones by the summer, co-branded with Verizon Wireless, that will focus on social-networking and text-messaging features, but will not run on the software giant's new Windows Phone 7 platform, according to various reports. Targeted primarily at teens, the phones are the product of the original Microsoft "Pink" project and will reportedly be made by Sharp. In dealing through Verizon Wireless, Microsoft will take a different path than Google did with its Nexus One handset. The companies declined to comment.
