Boosting biofuel production to meet the Renewable Fuel Standard mandate will have economic and environmental benefits that "far outweigh any potential negative consequences," according to Geoff Cooper, the Renewable Fuels Association's vice president for research and analysis. During a National Research Council workshop last week, Cooper said that meeting RFS2 would have "disruptive" effects, such as on the crude-oil markets, but would be beneficial overall for the U.S. economy and environment.
