Roger Thomas, executive vice president of design for Wynn Design and Development, will design the green room for the Oscars. Thomas, who designed the interiors of the Wynn Las Vegas and Encore Las Vegas, plans to feature French furniture and hand-painted upholstery for the Academy Awards.
LaSalle Hotel Properties, based in Bethesda, Md., says it plans to raise more than $100 million in a secondary stock offering and has filed to sell 5.35 million shares, with an additional 802,500 shares available to underwriters. The company raised $107 million in June 2009, when it last sold shares to the public in a secondary offering.
Convention groups continue to change plans involving the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego in protest of owner Doug Manchester's $125,000 contribution to a drive to ban gay marriage in California. The American Psychological Association, which expects to draw 14,000 attendees to its San Diego convention in August, says it will cancel about 30 meetings scheduled at the hotel.
Las Vegas Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson says reports the company is selling its hotel-casino in Bethlehem, Pa., are not true. Work on the project was halted in November 2008 amid the slumping economy, but Adelson said the company plans to resume building the 300-room hotel and crews have been instructed to restart construction as the casino adds 89 table games.
