North Carolina currently has enough food-animal veterinarians, but there is no certainty that demand for vets in the state can be met in the coming years, officials say. Data from AVMA show there are presently 18 counties in the state that have at least 25,000 food animals per vet -- a ratio that brings into question whether the animals' health care needs are being fully addressed, said Michael San Filippo, an AVMA spokesman.
