Engineers from United Environment & Energy, a New York-based company, are touting a new roofing material that knows when to reflect the sun's heat to keep buildings cool and when to absorb its energy to keep things toasty. The material, made from recycled cooking oil, can be sprayed onto existing roofs to reduce temperatures by up to 80% in warm weather or warm things up by an equivalent amount during cold snaps.
