Sprint Nextel's strategy of investing billions of dollars in WiMAX-based 4G technology, along with a strong belief in the commercial power of Wi-Fi connectivity, has created buzz for the company. Sprint is betting it will gain strong momentum in the market before rivals roll out their LTE-based 4G networks. "Wi-Fi changes the way we think about mobile devices," Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said at CTIA WIRELESS® last week after his company introduced the Evo, the first 4G phone.
