Female students are performing about the same as males on math standardized tests, but boys are continuing a trend of lagging behind girls in reading, according to a study from the Center on Education Policy. Susan B. Neuman, an education professor at the University of Michigan, says schools might need to make curriculum changes to help boys catch up. She suggests that reading content might be to blame for their lower scores, saying boys prefer informational texts.
