It's not a spice and it has nothing to do with Mary or roses, but rosemary has a rich history with food. A member of the mint family, the herb is typically used in Mediterranean cooking. When fresh it adds a burst of flavor; dried rosemary is more subtle. Easy to grow, the herb also is great in rubs and marinades and in soups.
