American companies plan to ship mobile recycling plants to Haiti to recycle the rubble of the quake-stricken capital. Concrete debris will be fed through mobile crushers and reused for road and building construction, and crews will be expected to train local workers to operate their equipment. "They want us to demolish buildings and recycle them into whatever usable products we can make," says one U.S. recycling manager. "Companies will go in, scrape the earth clean and build it back up again."
