Wal-Mart has thousands of suppliers in China in addition to about a million farmers who supply produce to the company's local stores. The US-based company is putting increasing pressure on those suppliers to be more environmentally conscious in their business practices. "We heard that in the future, to become a Wal-Mart supplier, you have to be an environmentally friendly company," said Benny Fung, head of Lutex, a soap and cosmetics maker. "So we switched some of our products and the way we produced them."
