With open skies negotiations just weeks away, the Transportation Department says the U.S. is "very disappointed" that Chinese aviation regulators have refused to give American Airlines a commercially viable slot at Beijing Capital International Airport. American on Monday postponed the start of its nonstop service between Chicago and Beijing after Chinese authorities assigned a 2:20 a.m. landing slot, rather than 1:55 p.m. as requested by the airline. American says it will rebook passengers on other flights until it can obtain reasonable slots in Beijing.
