Renewed World Energies is developing a photo-bioreactor system that is expected to grow commercial-scale amounts of algae oil "at a cost that will work well for profitability and competitiveness with the petroleum industry," said Todd Hylden, executive of Energae, which has raised investment capital for RWE. More than 20,000 gallons of algae oil per acre per year could be produced using RWE's growing system, Hylden added.
