Amtrak is running a train to St. Augustine, Fla., as it explores the possibility of a new depot and extended route. It's a test of Floridians' interest in rail travel as the state prepares to build one of the country's first high-speed systems. "We believe that the development of an integrated system of high-speed, corridor and long-distance passenger trains serving Floridians offers one of the best ways to address highway and aviation congestion, protect the environment and enhance economic development," said Amtrak CEO Joseph Boardman.
