General Motors announced it has signed a five-year agreement with the Department of Energy and India's Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute to study the viability of jatropha for biofuel production. If jatropha is commercially viable as an energy crop, GM India will be ready to bring biodiesel-capable vehicles to market, said Karl Slym, president and managing director of GM India.
