Buyers of iPads likely will appreciate the nifty new devices in transit and in a hotel room, but, at least when it comes to traveling, the iPad will have far less usefulness on the beach, at a diner or taking a walking tour, one critic writes. Advantages during travel include its portable library, word processor, Web browser, translator, park guide and weather forecaster, and it is nice to have during a long flight. But the device doesn't have a camera, and business travelers are advised not to get rid of their laptops just yet.
