The new recyclable collection program at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is expected to slash by half the amount of waste sent to landfills, improve ramp safety, cut air emissions and save the airport authority more than $250,000 a year. "This is a cost-effective and convenient recycling system that is coordinated by the airport in order to save money for every airline participating," said Elizabeth Leavitt, Sea-Tac director of Planning and Environmental Programs.
