About 75% of young adults ages 17 to 24 would not be accepted in the military because they are overweight, have other health concerns, have criminal records or are not high-school graduates, according to a nonprofit group of military leaders. The group is calling for a reauthorization of the Child Nutrition Act, which would ensure that school meals are cost-effective and nutritious. "When that many young adults can't fight because of their weight, it affects our national preparedness and national security," a member of the group said.
