The Department of Homeland Security has picked the wrong technology for its nationwide roll-out of full-body scanners, according to Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine. Collins says the scanners used at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport are more effective because they use radio waves rather than radiation. In addition, the Dutch system "avoids the privacy issues that have arisen with the style of full-body scanners that the Department of Homeland Security is deploying in this country," she says.
