Researchers said components of air pollution caused by road traffic appear to exacerbate asthma attacks in children in Atlanta, Ga. Researchers compared more than 90,000 emergency room visits by children age 5 to 17 with data on daily levels of more than 11 pollutants. "Characterizing the associations between ambient air pollutants and pediatric asthma exacerbations ... can help to inform public health policy decisions," the lead researcher said.
