Target has installed four-bin recycling stations at its 1,740 stores nationally, hoping to break even by collecting and selling 3,000 tons of recyclable materials in the first year. The bins accept aluminum, glass and plastic bottles, cell phones, batteries, ink cartridges and MP3 players. Target is also offering an Earth Day promotion that allows customers to mail in five disposable shopping bags in return for a $1 discount on a reusable Target tote bag.
