Girls ages 14 to 17 send more than 100 text messages a day on average, according to a report by the Pew Research Center's Internet and American Life Project. Overall, girls ages 12 to 17 typically send and receive 80 text messages a day, compared with 30 for boys in that age group. In addition, the frequency of texting has well surpassed every other method of interaction between teens, including talking on a cell phone and talking face to face, the report says.
