The union representing American Airlines flight attendants says it will not accept an offer of binding arbitration from the National Mediation Board. If the NMB makes such an offer this week and the union declines, the clock would be set for a 30-day cooling-off period leading to a possible strike. American has taken exactly the opposite position, however. "We're steadfastly committed to getting a deal at the table," a spokeswoman says. "If the NMB proffered binding arbitration to the parties, American would agree to participate."
