The U.S.'s childhood obesity task force issued a report Tuesday calling on food marketers to institute wide-ranging changes in the way food is marketed to children. The move is part of an overall effort by first lady Michelle Obama to reduce childhood obesity. The report advocates that retailers curb in-store marketing on certain products and that entertainment firms limit the licensing of characters to support only foods and beverages deemed healthy.
Smart & Final is planning a job fair May 20 and 21 as it seeks to hire about 500 workers for five stores opening this summer in the Denver area. The SmartCo Foods stores, set to open in former Albertsons locations, "will blend the best features of your local supermarket, warehouse club store and farmer's market in one, convenient store," the company said.
