New rules making it easier for unions to organize airline employees will not take effect before June 30, giving a federal judge more time to weigh a legal appeal by the Air Transport Association. The National Mediation Board agreed to the delay, and Judge Paul Friedman said he will hear ATA's request for a preliminary injunction on June 14. "We are pleased that the effective date of the new rule has been delayed," an ATA spokesman said. "This gives the courts a more reasonable time frame to hear arguments and render a decision on our motion for a preliminary injunction."
