In an effort to shorten the time frame for customizing the interiors of its 787 aircraft, Boeing Co. has introduced a 54,000-square-foot Dreamliner Gallery where customers can choose among dozens of options for seating, carpets, lavatories and more. Boeing says the gallery can turn what used to be a year-long process into just a couple of workdays. But even within its standardized catalog, Boeing promises airline customers they don't have to worry about looking alike. "Boeing is successfully offering enough different combinations that customers really have the ability to customize what their airplane looks like," says aerospace journalist Jon Ostrower.
