BP said its siphon tube is collecting an estimated 2,000 barrels of oil a day from the Gulf of Mexico spill, though it warned it would need more time to further boost the flow to its ship. "This remains a new technology, and both its continued operation and its effectiveness in capturing the oil and gas remain uncertain," BP said. The company has spent about $625 million in its cleanup efforts.
