A Colorado middle-school teacher is using kits from Xcel Energy to teach his students about saving energy -- and money. Teacher Brent Carmichael applied for and received 240 kits filled with compact fluorescent bulbs, a highly efficient showerhead, a kitchen faucet aerator and other energy-saving items that students could install in their homes. Carmichael said his students would likely carry the message of energy conservation with them for life.
