Most experts were expecting an upward revision for first-quarter growth in the U.S., from 3.2% to 3.4%, from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, but instead they received a downward revision to 3%. Weakness in business-equipment purchases and consumer spending was disappointing but not a huge letdown, according to The Economist. "America's recovery remains young and fragile," the magazine notes.
