E-commerce sales saw a double-digit rise in the first quarter, almost matching the rise in online sales during the fourth quarter of 2009, according to figures from the U.S. Department of Commerce. Online sales rose by more than twice as much as total retail sales, the report shows. "The Web continues to win because it's a channel where consumers can easily price compare, where the selection continues to be superior," said e-commerce analyst Sucharita Mulpuru.
