Indiana state Sen. Bob Deig and state Rep. Trent Van Haaften are unhappy that Aventine, which is building an ethanol plant in Posey County, is not hiring more local workers. In a letter to Gov. Mitch Daniels, the two lawmakers said that the area "had higher expectations for this project." Aventine broke a deal to "provide good jobs for local Hoosiers" in exchange for tax credits when the project was approved, the lawmakers added.
