Republicans and Democratic drilling supporters in the Senate have not reportedly changed their positions on offshore drilling despite the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, saying exploration and production must proceed in the country's coasts. Sen. David Vitter, R-La., whose state is vulnerable to the spill, said there is not a hint of panic among his constituents, while Sen. Scott Brown, R-Mass., dismissed the need to scale back drilling.
