Samsung advanced past Motorola to move into first place among U.S. mobile-equipment makers in the first quarter, although both drew a 21.9% share of the market, according to a comScore report, which put LG Electronics a whisker behind in third place. Among carriers, Verizon Wireless held 31.1% of the market, followed by AT&T at 25.2% and Sprint Nextel at 12%, just ahead of T-Mobile USA.
