Wednesday was Rail Customer Day, and representatives of the rail shipping industry joined senators from North Dakota, Wisconsin and West Virginia on Capitol Hill to rally for breaking up shipping monopolies that they say jack up prices of goods for consumers. Rally attendees urged Congress to pass the Surface Transportation Board Reauthorization Act of 2009 and the Railroad Antitrust Enforcement Act of 2009, which would help fight monopolies by expanding the authority of the Surface Transportation Board.
