More than 80% of school districts plan to cut an estimated 275,000 jobs during the upcoming school year, and more than 50% expect to freeze hiring, according to a survey released Tuesday. Nearly 1,500 superintendents in 49 states were questioned for the survey, which showed that the job losses could effectively nullify the 300,000 education jobs created or saved through the federal stimulus package.
