With many studies indicating that secondhand smoke poses health risks in pets, including malignant lymphoma in cats and lung cancer in dogs, veterinarians are stepping up their efforts to remind smokers about such dangers. Animals "in an environment with constant exposure to a toxin, and that would include cigarette smoke, could be at greater risk of developing tumors," a San Francisco-based veterinarian said.
